“SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES – HEALTHY FUTURES”

The Rideau Roundtable is proud to announce its Speakers Series which will focus on the theme of sustainability in the Rideau Corridor.

Sustainability is the key to healthy, prosperous and vibrant communities. This speakers series will engage some of North America’s leading experts in sustainability to discuss ways in which individuals, organizations and communities can take positive action to develop a culture of sustainability in their region.

Come and hear Scott Vaughan (current President and CEO of the International Institute for Sustainable Development and past Commissioner of the Environment) talk about best practices in regulation for inland waterways. Scott's talk will be of great use to community groups, environmentalists, provincial and municipal planners, conservation authorities and government regulators. Scott's group (IISD) has done work on re-animating the Experimental Lakes Area (www.iisd.org/ela/) after its existence was put into question by past governments and has done projects on such things as Water and Land Management in the Bioeconomy (www.iisd.org/project/water-and-land-management-bioeconomy)

Speaker Series: Climate Change and the Rideau
Come and hear our panel of experts on climate change (Paul B. Hamilton one of our board members and a specialist in fresh water diversity and Paul Lehman, General Manager of the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority) talk about how climate change will be experienced in the Rideau River corridor.
